it's not that great...

I have chargers almost everywhere I am/go, and have 2 extra batteries, and I still run low... I suggest changing the wifi power to 4mw from 100mw, it can help some.

But in any device with wifi, you can drain the battery fast... I remember I used to drain my 1800mah battery in my Ipaq hx4700 and I had to get a 3600mah.

It's too bad Nokia does not have extended batteries for the N80, though I think the E65 has a better battery life (not much, but still it's better)

I can last a day, but I'm not a power user. I listen to music for about an hour and a half each day and talk on the phone for about 20minutes. I have auto email checks every 1/2 hour and I SMS about 3 messages a day.

6-7 hours of continous music playback? can someone confirm on that? if thats the case then it is great. i saw some where selling 1000 mah battery for the n80 u think its legit and good?

lol, yeah most of the time. but not for too long. I wait for 9:00 or weekends to go all out . . . and then my battery is gone lol

battery life really sucks on the n80, especially with wifi usage
if you're planning to get the n80, you should invest on an extra battery as you will probably be charging daily

I find that my N80 can last me about two days before I decide to charge it. Battery still shows about two bars.
This is with moderate usage, few txt msgs, no mp3, browsing internet via wifi for about 30min/day, calls for about 40min.

So far, I haven't had a need to charge it the same day. Nevertheless, your mileage will vary.

Also, set in Wifi options not to report for any wifi.
And set to search for GSM networks only.

Is this topic still coming back for MORE?

DO a search, there is tons of threads regarding this. Ultimately, it comes down to this which some have already brought up.

N80 battery sucks, because it has a very small battery: BL-5B (820 mAh). Just to put it into perspective, the E61 has a 1500mAh battery and that for example gives pretty decent battery life. Specially if you are using Media and other COMM options.

Those who claim the battery is "good" on "their" N80's either don't use the phone for much --which defeats the purpose of buying a phone with so many options in the first place-- or justify it by buying a few batteries or recharging the phone everywhere they go.

If that is okay with you, then you could give it a try. I wouldn't. These days, I would not suggest anyone to buy a phone under at the very least 1000-1350 mAh.

If you really want to be mobile then run, run away from this phone.

Oh come on man.

I have an N80, and I'll agree that the battery life on the N80 is subpar. But what does "using the phone for much" include?

I send/receive maybe 10 SMSes a day, talk for maybe an hour, and surfe wifi at home for maybe 20 minutes. Sporadically throughout the day I'm watching Smartmovie or listening to MP3s via my BT headset. At the end of the day my battery is about 2-3 bars down from full. I don't have a problem with that; I leave my phone on the charger overnight.

Obviously, somebody who does not have access to a charger every night will run into problems.

Just because someone owns a Ferrari doesn't mean they have to drive at 150 miles per hour on their way to work each day.
