Just called the Nokia Flagship Store in Chicago. The N80ie is available (only in pearl black). The price is the same as the regular N80 and both are on sale at least through Christmas for $499 (regularly $599).

The store employee also said he did not yet know when or if N80 owners would be offered the N80ie features via a firmware upgrade.

The phone hardware is identical to the regular N80 so the answer is definitely no - WCDMA 2100 only (confirmed on Nokia USA's website).

What an noob!!

If it wasn't for the US your country wouldn't even exists.

Wherever that is..

Do you know even how many Americans have stocks on Nokia? If the Americans pulled does shares out. Nokia Inc will crash!

Remember Nokia is not a PVT Company..

Probably.. So Nokia needs US no matter how you look at it..

That noob doesn't know what he's talking about. He just thinks about himself..

Its like saying Why can't Nokia make a special phone for me.. Just for me..

I just got my n80ie 2 days ago and I'm loving it so far. If the 3g situation is no different on the "US" version then I'm cool with the Asian Market n80 i got. I love switching the language and testing how long I can go through out a day without understanding whats written. It's kind of funny because I think most of us will be surprised how well we already know s60v3. This is my 3rd V3 and I dont even need it to set it english to use it with really no hitches other than text messaging. The resolution is so utterly insane that the Chinese font looks like it was painted on the screen when your looking at it in person. I'm not sure if these pix will do it justice but It really is kind of cool to have the option.

maybe he means that he lives in america and hates when phone comes here because then everyone has it and it is not unique. with few exceptions... like with verizon because i have no choice. i get phones that are not released in the usa...1. because they are usually better 2. because i will be one of the few people with it.
