N80 troubles. Please help!

Recently my N80s been acting up. At first it gave me the "Phone Startup Failed Contact The Retailer" message, then it shut down. It takes a lot of tries just to get the phone to turn on, and if the Sim Card is in, then it won't turn on at all. I can try to turn it on with no sim card, and it works fine in Offline mode. I tried turning it off in offline mode, inserting a sim, and turning the phone back on (this is also took a lot of tries) in offline mode and it still worked. But a phone isn't much use if I can't make calls, so I change to the General profile, and all the phones lights blink and flash, and the phone just shuts down. I've already tried reformatting the phone using the 3 button method, but I'm still having the same problems.


Please help, I'm getting kinda desperate .
 
Just out of curiousity, is your sim a 32k or 64k sim? If it's fine without the sim then it's either a problem with your sim or the sim holder itself. I would go and get a new sim from tmob and see if that works and if your sim is a 32k sim I would upgrade to a 64.
 
I don't know how to tell the difference . I don't think it is the sim card though, because I tested it on other phones, and it seems to work in them. I'm still having the problem of the phone taking a lot of tries just to turn on also.
 
I see your in NY...did you happen to get it from the NY store? Either way, if your experiencing this many problems with it you need to either return it or have it sent to Nokia for repair...hope you have a good back up as that's going to take some time from what I've heard.
 
I've tried, but the phone is even more difficult just to turn on now, and when it does, nothing happens. Either all the lights including the buttons and the screen just blink and flash and then the phone shuts down, or the screen is just white and just stays like that until I remove the battery.
 
I hope the OP didn't get this phone from My World Phone...

But, def. sounds like it's a bad piece... and it needs to be fixed/replaced.. I never had that problem with the N80...Mine never crashed or froze at any point!

Goodluck man!! I hope you are able to get this taken care of at no added cost..
 
No, I didn't get it from MWP. Just a regular cell phone place, thing is its kinda far from me, so hopefully I can find somewhere else that can handle the replacing for me.


What sucks is that my new memory card just came in the mail too, and I can't even use it .
