hey guys,

i searched google and here but came up with almost nothing other than buying hardcases that make it tighter. anyways, any methods you guys have used/heard of/links that actually make it tighter? my n80 is getting loser by the day.

thanks

Rob

You will have to open up the phone and bend a small metal tab to add resistance to the slider. Many people have already done this, including me, and now my N80 is nice and tight. There was a site that posted step by step instructions with pics on how to do this before, but it has gone down. good luck

i'l be taking mine apart to switch the housing to black, where is this metal tab that needs to be bent, that guide seems to just be how to take the phone apart.

Hahaha, that was funny.

Yeah its covered within the 1st year of ownership. The problem with me is that the service center is out of state. I would need to ship my phone there and will take 7-10 business days to fix.

Like illmatic416 said, you can open up the phone and bend the little springy clip upwards a bit, and that will give the slide more "snap" when you open and close the phone. It does nothing, however, for the side to side play the slide has.

The only way I can see to fix the side to side play is to shim the rails the slide, uh, slides inside. Maybe use some very thin pieces of aluminum or spring steel or something?

Well, I bit the bullet and did this myself just now. Took about 20mins following the instructions from the link posted. Kinda marred up the back of my slider a bit, around the rail. That was a pain to get off. After that it was a breeze. My phone now snaps into place. I just put my phone inside the front pocket of my jeans. Took it out. It use to slide open when I take it out of my pocket. Well it doesn't do that anymore. Did a function test and everything works fine. No spare parts on the desk. So I am all good baby.

My 8801 is well over a year old and easily as responsive as the day I got it..also all of the 8890's i've owned were always durable....
I hope however the N95 doesnt have this problem as it has the dual slide function which could become really annoying if it sways from side to side
