N8 Firmware to be updated sooner than expected?

There's a long list of changes that we're supposed to receive early next year according to the Symbian folks, but will we see some select changes sooner than that? Maybe as soon as a couple weeks?

Maybe not the "new browser" but some updates to improve the existing one just enough to hold us over? Portrait QWERTY?

I dunno if PR1.1 released in December would be sooner than expected, but its welcomed.

I wouldn't mind some UI enhancement to the existing browser to hold us over. It's not a horrible browser. Clearly the Engine needs an update. I wouldn't mind better font rendering. Can the GPU be leveraged for anti-aliasing/smoothing the fonts?

Also, we absolutely need either a portrait keyboard, or the ability for third-party devs to provide a portrait keyboard.

Personally i would love a firmware to get rid of some of these damn bugs! Like i restarted my phone this morning as it was feeling a bit sluggish, and now when i press the keylock to shut the screen off, it locks the screen but leaves it on! little things like that i would love to see ironed out.

does anyone know if the carrier locked N8's will be able to upgrade? or will we need to wait for the unlock?
