N73 vs. SE 790a (T-Mo would be the carrier)...

After much private feedback, I've decided that I'm going to replace my T-Mobile Dash with either the Nokia N73 or the Sony Ericsson k790a. I'm a T-Mobile Mid-atlantic customer (Maryland), and I use my phone mainly for:

1. Reading and replying to e-mail from three different accounts on the go.
2. Sending Text Messages.
3. Taking pictures.
4. Browsing news sites such as WashingtonPost.com and CNN.com.

Occasionally I'll listen to music or watch a small video on my phone, but that's what I have an iPod for. I also occasionally use AIM with the phone, so that's important as well.

So, between the N73 and the K790a, which do you guys and gals think would be better for me based on the information provided above?

Thanks in advanced for your help.

If you need to check your email and browse websites often, I would recommend the Nokia N73 Internet Edition over the K790.

Yea, for what you've listed I'd go for the N73. The three email accounts and web browsing will be better on a smartphone and the camera on the N73 can easily be compared with the K790a

I'd go for Nokia as I had problems with the joystick on 3 of my SE (T610, K700, K750) and decided to use regular 4-way d-pad... so N73 in this case

bang for your buck, the 790 is the way to go...it can be had for nearly half the price of the n73, and has very comparable features. ALthough s60 is deadly, the 790's os is pretty good too. ALso, in regards to the joystick issues, i have heard of quite a few users on this site breaking the stick on their n73.....now i realize that most of us dont play football with a ~400 dollar phone in the pocket, but its something to consider...

Depends on how good of pictures you are looking for. I don't care what anybody says, I've owned both phones and the K790 is hands down the best quality picture phone there is out there. The photos it takes with the xenon flash are quite incredible for a phone for darker and night shots.

Music wise the N73 is far superior.

Sound wise the N73 blows away the K790. The 3D speakers are incredible and sound awesome. The phone is nice and loud. The K790 has decent speakers, but with most SE phones the earpiece volume when on a call is pretty low, and its hard to hear someone when you are in a noisy environment.

Internet browsing and email go to the N73 as well.

The only really bad thing about the N73 is the software lag. It lags pretty bad when you are taking pictures and switching between apps, and personally I prefer the UI of Sony Ericsson of the Symbian of Nokia's phones. It runs way faster and seems to crash less.

Also, I like the form of both phones but I think the slide of the K790 is flimsy and it opens when in your pocket.

You might also want to check out the Rokr E6. It has pretty much the same features as the other two (once you enable quadband and edge) and I have enjoyed for the small amount of time I have owned it.

The K790a is the best quality MASS MARKET camera phone out there. There are many phones, including my I-Mobile 902, the sharp 903 and arguably the Nokia N95 that can beat the crap out of the K790a when it comes to picture quality.

That maybe true for daytime shots, but I was mostly talking about shots taken at night, where the K790a easily beats the competition.
