to cut the long story short, i bought N73 ME couple of days ago and since then i have been installing n removing a lot of applications etc! but now i have noticed that the fone has become slower, while opning menu, while applying themes or in general! is this due to d amount of data i hav put on 2GB miniSD card? i have been installing all d applications on miniSD, very few i have installed on fone memory!

Check and see what apps are running - if you don't have a task manager, hold down the menu key and hit "C" to stop anything you don't want on in the background.

You can also stop the Music Player from running in the background without a task manager - open the player go to options and select equalizer. Then press options again and exit - voila! music player stopped - more memory for your photo needs

There's a few different things you can do:

1. Set your call log to only 10 days, rather than 30.
2. Organize your menu so that there's less icons on each screen. You can do this by creating folders to organize things.
3. Make sure that you're closing your apps when you're done with them. As you leave them running in the background, they will slow down your phone. Press and hold the swirly menu button for a few seconds to see what apps you have running in the background.

thanx guys for your responses! and yaa i am using Handy task manager, so i make sure that no unwanted application is running, in fact i even kill music player when not needed.
so i have only "F secure" running in he background! i have 15-18 MB of RAM free too, n still i feel that the fone has become slower than when i bought it!
as i asked earlier, does the no. of programs installed make any difference to speed of the fone?

uninstall F-Secure. It's useless and only wastes RAM.

Symbian is a secure OS. The only way you could get a virus is:

1. Installing apps you don't know where came from. I.e. "shady" websites
2. Accepting random bluetooth transfers.

You can keep your bluetooth on all day if you want, I do. Just don't accept a transfer you didn't ask for. It's that easy. Or keep it in hidden mode. That way you can still connect with your headset or whatever, but no one can jack with your handset.

I've got a rant here against the Mobile Security Apps. It's the same as PC Security. There's really no need if you're careful and not stupid.

Just a shot in the dark here, but Shozu slows my phone down considerably. Its worth having, but if you've got it installed, then it could be a culprit.

Like I said, shot in the dark.

thanx "Rcadden", i was going to uninstall F-Secure, but wasnt sure about it, now i ll for sure! n "phonophiliac" i guess in my case the culprit could be "yahoo GO!" it continuously tries n connects to the net to synchronize stuff with my yahoo accnt!
one more thing, does the location for sms, i.e. either fone memory or memory card dictates the speed? and does the no. of msges saved on fone affects the speed?

p.s. im new to S60 world, as i have come from good old 6230, so any other advice?

The number of messages can, as can where it's stored to. It's obviously faster for the phone to access the internal memory rather than a memory card.

Apps that are constantly connecting, like Yahoo! Go and ShoZu, IMO, are better installed to the phone memory. Also, if you're using themes, be sure to install those to the phone memory as well.

If you install and setup LifeBlog, you can use that to synchronize your SMS/MMS with your computer, so that you don't really need to save ALL of them on your phone.

ok then i guess i ll reinstall yahoo G on fone memory! by the way i was checking if all my themes are on fone memory, i couldnt find "stave" and "waveform" the 2 themes thats r N73ME special! why werent they shown in "application manager"?

ok i ll try that, but i ll need to install F-secure again! by the way when i ll reinstall F-secure again, will it again give me 1 month trial period or what?
