Hello, current phone (T610) is finally dying, and I need to order an unlocked phone today. I will be staying on T-mobile USA since I have a great grandfathered plan.

Phone features I care about:
1 Reception Quality
2 850Mhz (roaming in the boonies)
3 Bluetooth sync to mac address book
4 Build quality
5 text messaging

I am open to other suggestions (E Series, etc), but what do you guys think who have had one or both of these phones.

If you do a search, I'm sure you'll get a bunch of hits since this topic has been covered before.

But here are my 2cents: It depends on what type of user you are. I've used both the k790a and the N73. I like the simplicity of the k790a and a huge plus is the camera (you can take pictures much faster than the N73, including quality pics at night!). At the same time though, I like the complexity of the N73 and the fact that there are so many programs out there to customize it however you'd like. The camera in the daylight is great (except for the few second delay when taking pics). The video is also better on the N73. The built quality is on par with both, with maybe a slight edge for the k790a (just feels better in hand). The call quality I'd probably give it to the N73. Both are great phones but I ended up keeping the N73. Hope that helps!

good choice ive had both.

only thing about the k790a is that the volume is so damn low and the n73 is REALLY loud. loudest phone ive ever had.

I had to make this decision a while back too.

It basically came down to this -

Symbian's Smartphone OS vs. Sony's Standard OS

I like versatility.. so it was an obvious choice .

I'm pretty much going to be a Symbian user from now on, since it's so amazingly awesomes hehe.

I was in the same situation but with the K800 and N73... I took the N73 over it just because of the sound output on the N73. I find I didn't use the camera on phones as much these days. The sound output of the N73 is really good... ear piece is loud and audible and the loudspeakers make ringers audible. I wouldn't hear it most of the time when it was in my pocket while I was outdoors.
