N73 or E50 - which keyboard for texting?

I've been lurking/researching getting a new phone. Pretty sure I've narrowed it down to these two (although still kind of like the SE k790a).

However....the one phone I've had that I always have to compare back to...when I think of getting a new phone is the 6230b. Got one of the first ones when it came out. Had it from Dec 03 to Feb 06....Loved its' size, weight, interface, everything. One thing that I don't remember doing with that phone was much texting....so I don't know how the keyboard layout would have worked for me (somewhat small keys). I remember that it was awfully tight for dialing numbers with my thumb.

Last Feb....I strayed off from Nokia for awhile with a Moto v635....I like it.....alot.....but it's giving me 'upgraditis' lately. I did start texting a lot more than previously with the v635. Keys are nicely laid out for that (bigger) for both one or two hand usage.

I can't really tell 'key size' from researching these two phones. Been looking at all the usual suspects for pic comparisons (gsmarena, phonescoop, etc.).

Anyone used either of these phones for much texting?

I'm not talking 200+ texts/month....but somewhere in the 100/month average. I can live with a little bit of pita, if the rest of the keyboard is good.

This is about the last 'little bit' of comparison before I choose to go 'mid grade' with the E50 or 'top grade' everything with the N73 (yeah I want to...but...).

Thanks for reading......and any insight!

I think the more important thing is going to be the other keys. To me, the layout on the N73, with them spread out a bit more is preferential. Some people like how on the E50 they're all bunched up together up there.

I've considered swapping my N73 JUST for the keypad on the E50. I have never felt it, but just the look of it makes me believe it MUST be better than the N73. I think the only worse keypad I've ever used on a phone was the 6670, and that was only because they were too tiny.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6540/1528; en; U; ssr))

Got the N73. After a week with it, typing no big deal. This reply is from it. The T9 implementation is much better than I remember with the Motos... It is an awesome phone.

I had the N73 and it's not the best keypad in the world.

I sold it, and I'm using an 8890. Did it get any better? LoL, I'm using my fingernail tips now by twisting my fingers to the side to use the 8890 keypad.

Until I get a new phone..ahh..I get bored fast

Ditto here. I have the E50 and my wife the N73 and hers is much harder to key in things. Feedback is poor, size is poor and the keys are located to low in proportion to the overall length of the device.

E50 is clearly better but IMO is far from perfect either.

I dont know why Nokia persists in this poor quality of keybaord. Looking at the E60, clearly they are capable of doing better.

I mean hell, just given the decades of timethey have been making mobile phones, you'd think the art of designing a keybaord would be something they have nailed down by now. Unbelieveable stupidity....

The keys on the E60 are fantastically better than the E50, but the phone is that much more bulky in return. I can't decide which I like better yet, they both have their benefits/drawbacks... but I think the E50 is not the most fun to text on one-handed, it's hard to hit the *-0-# keys easily, which I use a lot.
