N73 joystick mod ?!?

OK, I'm getting a callus on my thumb so I have to do something about this joystick. Anybody has any ideas what to put on the top of it to make it a bit softer with better traction?

I'm thinking along the lines of some rubbery paint or cement or maybe a piece of self-sticking rubber like those add-on small rubber feet available on sheets. Anything else anyone has done?
 
There was a thread on here about a month and a half ago, where someone had used a CNC Lathe to create a 'nub' (for lack of a better word) to put over the joystick... they seemed to think it worked pretty well.

Try searching just "n73 joystick" and see what you find.

That joystick is the reason I don't own a N73. This is also the major reason I avoid S.E. I'm to used to the awesome keypad on my N90, and can't accept that uncomfortable stick.
 
OK, fixed it. It's buttugly but oh so smooooth!

I found a small round self adhesive felt pad (about a 1/4 inch in dia), an ugly brown color to boot, stuck it on, cut it square and shaved it a bit cuz it looked like a miniature porcupine on the thing.

It's probably sacrilege but I keep rubbing this small hairy thing now all the time...

I probably shouldn't appear in public with this phone any more...
