Hi. The reason I ask this is I've used the Nokia updater with my 3250 several times, however the phone memory was never wiped. Is this the same with the N73?

just did a upgrade on my n73 me and it wiped out my phones memory.

Thanks for replies. I want to upgrade the firmware but it takes ages to re-install all apps and games again. I'm not sure whether the Pc Suite Backup/restore would restore the phone to the way it was before the upgrade.

If you backup your phone information to your memory card prior to updating and restore it back after the update, it doesn't take long at all.
Personally, I prefer to start over because a hard reset will clear and remnant files from uninstalled applications. I find it goes by pretty quickly if you remember exactly what you want on your phone and sync your contacts with Outlook.

I agree jonny i do the same, i leave all apps on my comp, have my contacts on my outlook or i save to memory card and just copy back to phone, its great copies exactly same.
