N73 faceplate screen cracked

Something really weird happened to my n73 this weekend. I was cleaning my phone with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. Now keep in mind, I have done this several times before without anything happening to the phone. After cleaning the phone, I notice cracks started to form in the corners of the plastic area (covering the lcd) and these cracks started to spread for about 30 seconds. The end result is show in the pictures? I've ordered another faceplate on Ebay for 20 bucks but I was just wondering, what would cause these cracks to occur?

Damn! I had exactly the same problem, i bought a nice oem Red/White housing for my N73 fitted it and it was fine, i then started to wipe off the "N Series" logo on the screen protector off lightly and noticed a small crack down the left of the screen, though when touched you could'nt feel a crack meaning its in the plastic, obviously i ordered another front cover and fitted more carefully but i was still a little annoyed ....

It must be some type of reaction with the plastic, not really sure though. How the heck did it crack the screen if u were applying rubbing alcohol to just the screen protector? I think when I get my new faceplate, I'll take a cutip and dab it in a tiny bit of nail polish remover. As long as I don't touch the actual screen surface, it shouldn't crack. I hate the way how Nokia put that stupid "N Series" logo on the screen protector, I usually keep mine on the phone for months after getting it.

Haha, this is true. I know better next time. I've used those cleaning pads that are 50% alcohol, 50% water and had no issues. The rubbing alcohol I used this time was 70% alcohol, so the increased concentration could of done it.
