N73: Cannot select Bluetooth handsfree enhancement

I am trying to get my N73 working correctly with my Bluetooth car kit. I think the problem I am having may be caused by the fact that my phone is set to the "Headset" enhancement option, rather than "Bluetooth handsfree".

However, when I try to change the setting, the phone only offers me three options: Headset, Loopset, or Text phone. Even when the phone is connected to the car, it still doesn't offer me the option to select the Bluetooth handsfree.

Any ideas why I'm not allowed to choose the option I want?

I'm not using a headset, I'm using a bluetooth car kit (OEM VW / Parrot). From what I've read around the place, the difference between the "Headset" profile and "Handsfree" profile is that in Handsfree mode, the phone will remain connected to the bluetooth car kit, which is what I want. In Headset mode, it disconnects and re-connects as needed, which is what I'm trying to avoid.

Go to your bluetooth settings and go to devices. Select your... car.... and select "connect"

You'll stay connected to it.

End of story.

Don't ask for more cause there isn't.

This is all related to my earlier question in this post:

Every time the phone sends audio to the car, there's a connection delay causing the first 1-2 seconds of audio to be lost. I'm hoping that switching to the Handsfree mode will solve this problem.

The delay is due to your car kit then. You're right about the delay, but there's no way to avoid or reduce it unless both devices are using BT 2.0, and it sounds like only the N73 is. Even then, there would still be at least a little delay. Besides, having an active connection that's constantly transmitting as you would like would drain the battery unnecessarily.
