Hi folks,

just recently started experience strange problem with T-mobile and N73. when i restart phone or lock it (not keypad, but phone) i getting right away new voice mail indicator and message notivication "you have 1 voice message" orr something like that. i'm calling voicemail - system tels me no messages and indicator goes away until nex time. reset voicemail on t-mo, hard reset N73, reset t-mo mail again -- same problem. No additional software installed at the moment. T-mo says "we are fine, it's your phone" Any suggestions what to do and how to resolve it?

thanks in advance

I never experienced something like this on my N73.. I'm with Cingular..

But I experienced something like this on the 6270 that I had last year. I was so dissapointed!

Hopefully a firmware update will fix it..

Its not out yet.. Also you should contact Nokia and and notify them about it. I wanna know what they have to say about this issue.

Hi again. i'm bumping up this post as i do need help from community. T-mobile spent tones of time and could not help with this problem, but i feel the following is going on. my card put into another N73 gives the same problem, so it's Symbian and T-mobile SIM combined....

all voice mail notifications are send to phone as a special sms and i strongly believe i have such (or similar message stored on my SIM), and phone reads this message and interprets it as a new voice mail notification. It happens even in subway tunnel where absolutely no reception and no network coverage.

Using someone else?s SIM not giving me this problem. Few days ago I replace SIM but on new SIM and MY ACCOUNT the problem with dummy voicemail indicator. So someplace networked places a MSG on my SIM and Symbian treats that stored MSG as a notification from a system as I have a new voice mail in my mailbox. Nokia USA said we are not supporting N73, sorry?

Two questions:

Is there is a way to reset SIM?

Where can I get help from?

Thanks

It would be not a big problem if it would be happening ones per start up. but it's also happening everytime i lock the phone or it lockes automaticaly. and i need to keep it locked due to nature of my work. i hate calling voicemail 15 times a day just to work around .... and it's a bug and needs to be reported in order to get fixed... and it did not happend before for 1.5 month i'm using this phone, so it's possible to fix this problem w/o updating FW, just by deleting MSGs from SIM card but HOW?????

please continue posting until we find a solution.. Thanks

I had this problem briefly on cingular. The solution was to call your phone from a different phone, leave a voicemail. Then call your voicemail from that same different phone, listen to the voicemail, delete it, hang up. The icon should disappear from the cell phone.

Tried that using once unlocked unbranded phone and second time dedicated T-mobile phone. did not help to me,

unless you explain in details how you manipulated SIM cards (when you left voice MSG did you use different SIM compare to retriving ... etc..)

Thanks

Thanks,

this is slightly different issue you had. your voice mail indicator did not go away when you deleted message from your handset. I had such issue as well and it simply corrected by the way you described.

Thanks

FINALLY fixed!!!!!!!! HYPERITE, you were right, problem that I did not use another NOKIA to delete MSG, and I think it's important as other manufacturers make slightly different standards (I think?). The clue came to me after someone posted he has the same problem on S40 phone (not on S60), so I guessed it?s not a software but hardware problem. It paid off? Put my SIM card into NOKIA 6103 T-mobile LOCKED phone, Trick is to use locked NOKIA phone!!!!!!!!!. With my SIM in locked phone I left myself a voice msg from a land line. as soon as I got new VMI I called checked my mailbox from locked NOKIA, erased message, went through all prompts, pressed "*" which is actually finalizes voicemail browsing and hanged up. After voicemail indicator goes away I put my SIM back from 6103 to N73 and it's working as it suppose to work.

This didnt work for me either. Not only that, but using the "*" key at the end doesnt hang up either. It just keeps replaying the last message for menu options.
