N73 and BMW Bluetooth

I am using a Pioneer DEH-980 BT car stereo. It uses a different chip inside and thus my cell phone connects to, and holds that connection just fine.

As far as your trip the dealership, I understand you frustration and their reaction. If you were able to confront them with better information, perhaps some technical documentation showing why it doesn't work and then escalating it up to a corporate contact you would be better off. The folks at the dealership only make money from selling you that one car. They do try and make sure you are happy with it so you will buy another car from them. They however do not make the product nor car about the production processes. The fact that they have a "list" of phones does worry me though, that is if its an official lost from BMW and not something they have compiled. That would tell me that BMW knows about the problem and is not willing to fix it currently.

I have 2007 328xi cupe and my 6600, n70, n80, n73, n95 would not work with bmw, it is a s60 problem, updatet firmware on all phones but still the same problem, we need some kined of 3rd party software in order for s 60 to work with bmw

The actual bluetooth module, can it be replaced easily with lets say an audi module? I'm willing to shell out money to change the module if it would let me use any phone and the stock setup. Anyone know if this is possible?

Easily? No. BMW, particularly with their later vehicles, tie the software and the hardware very closely.

Example: I have a 2007 X5 that I had the BMW Sirius unit installed in recently. In order to get it to work, the dealer had to get a "code" unique to my vehicle and the receiver, and then enter the code into the on-board computer...using some software program that the dealer has. It was so complicated, it took them FOUR days to get it to work---inclusive of software upgrades for the vehicle, etc.

It wasn't always this way. In my '04 BMW, I merely added the BMW Bluetooth module myself, and it was done.
