N73 and BMW Bluetooth

I just got my N73 for a few weeks now and upgraded my E46 BMW to have bluetooth, but I can't get the phone to connect to the car! I have the newest "minor" update for the N73 and can pair with the car, but it won't connect to it afterwards. I've tried it with my old Moto V3 and it works! So I was wondering if any has had any experience with this? I have the "remote sim mode" on in the phone and tried re-pairing it but still no luck. Can someone help me out? Thanks!

Hi,

my E61 cannot connect to BMW X3 Bluetooth. SonyEricsson K750i works very well (with all the features) and the Blackberry 7290 I had too (limited features).

Hey guys, I have an Acura MDX with built in BT.
Here are a few tricks that may or may not work for you BMW guys.
First , do a total system reset on the BT in the car, clear out all the old phone pairings. My command for that is "System Clear". Then go to the phone and delete the pairing for the care in the phone. Reboot the phone.
Now start for scratch, and see what happens.
Also, what I have found is if you use the same pairing number to pair different phones, that causes issues. So always use a different number, IE don't always use 0000, make up a different one if you need to pair two or more phones.
Any who, that does the trick on my Acura, the N73 is a great phone and BT support works for me 100%, so let me know how you make out.

yes!!! i even purchased the bmw bluetooth!!! hopefully with ME edition coming out in the US, there'll be a firmware and maybe it'll work!

let me get this straight, you can pair and establish connection but then you will loose connection after a while or is it when you start the car again, the phone wont automatically connects to the car?

Edit: OK, someone has posted in another forum that N73 BT problems were solved by updating to FW 2.0628.0.0.3 dated 27-07-2006, you can all give it a try...

you have most of it right... i can pair the phone with the car, but once it pairs, it wont connect, it'll just show up as a device on my phone, and when i try to connect, i get the "failed to connect" msg.

i have the new firmware, but still same issue!

I am unable to get it to work with my 2006 330i. I have tried everything. It makes the intial connection, but drops after a second or two and will not remain connected. It will never reconnect after that either. I just get a failed to connect message - I THOUGHT this was the perfect phone. My BB 8700 worked fine - why doesnt this? I even enabled remote SIM mode, no diff. What a bummer.

My N70 and 2006 e90 330i used to work ( was able to connect, but no phonebook synch), then I've updated the BMW software to the latest version and it stopped connecting alltogether. It still connects so other phones but not N70. I am considering getting other phones, but I don't really like any besides S60, but I don't think any of them work, I am afraid N95 won't either unless they fix something. It looks like the BMW works with most phones except S60 based

I have Volvo's bluetooth add-on for my XC90, and I'm having the same exact problem w/ my N73. It pairs w/ the system, but then doesn't connect. I've tried to "force" a connect from the phone's side, but this also doesn't work. I'm also frustrated, since the bluetooth connection worked fine w/ my WM5 smartphone(s), as well as my 6682! In fact, the N73 is the only phone it hasn't worked with. I wonder if the problem is S60 v3, or possibly something different w/ the bluetooth protocol in the new phones. BTW, I just updated to the most recent firmware (30-10-2006), and it made NO difference!

I wrote to both Nokia and BMW a while ago to complain, but they just blamed each other. Maybe you guys should write them a note as well, so they'll be motivated to do something. As of now, none of N-series connects, I would't think E-series is any different. SE P990 doesn't connect either. Most other SE and Samsungs worked fine as well as earlier Nokia
