N73 3g? Usa? Cingular?

hi everyone, im actually not a nokia user yet (use to be but went to sharp).. I'm thinking about buying an N73 when it comes out but i got a couple questions

1. when will it come out? or is it out already?
2. will it be 3G? i mean USA 3G?
3. will i beable to make video calls using cingular?
4. how much is it? and in general hows the quality of the N series cameras? sharp has really good cameras and ive seen the N80 camera but im not impressed, theres too much noise.

thanks-

It is already available and can be bought from a number of retailers. Take a look at the HoFo Marketplace or use google.com. It is 3G, but does not support the frequencies used in North America. Cingular doesn't support video calling. Depends on where you buy it from. Camera quality is subjective, but you can read various opinions by using google.com to search for reviews of the phone.

The only new Nokia phone that will be america 3g is the N75. There are no nokia 3g phones to date for us. Nokia needs to release symbian 9.3. I have the N73 and i love it. Maybe next year i will get another phone or not. Otherwise the N73 is a great phone.

So does that mean that it won't work in the U.S.? If I lived in the US and wanted the phone does that mean that I shouldn't get it because it does not support the frequencies?

the normal phone calling and EDGE data features will work in the US. 3G features (such as uber high speed data and video calling) will not work in the US because those are on a different frequency in Europe than what either tmobile or cingular are planning to have

no way is it just the N73 that doesnt run on US 3g networks? cuz my boss got like 3 N93 and all of them say UMTS 2100Mhz on the side of the box, us = 2100 right?

another noob question....so besides the 3G features, are there any other features that do not work on the cingular network?
and do you REALLY need 3G? isnt edge good for now?

no .. almost all other features should work (forgot if n73 had push to talk) 3G is way faster data than edge. While we all would love DSL like speed on our phones, it's not necessary for most things. You have never had it, so you wont be missing it.

i thought that 1900 was upload and 2100 was download, and yes i do need 3g. i want to surf the internet, and make video calls, and use slingbox outside of wifi. wouldnt you?

Well the Nokia N73 is out.. I have one myself. I'm using Cingular.

As for Cingular having it.. I don't know about that! Cinguar is cheap! They don't like to pay for expensive phones. Oh well I can't blame em too. Americans are cheap as well.. All they brag about is Free phones!

Cingular just dropped the N80 and they stripped the WiFi on the E61.

No Nokia phones yet that I know of has 1900mhz WCDMA for 3G in the US.

All Nokia phones that I know all has 2100mhz WCDMA for 3G in Europe and Asia.

Cingular has 3G but their definition of 3G is different. What they mean by 3G is broadband speed on your phone. Not video calling! Hopefully soon they will have that.

As for the N73 camera. All I can say is simply AWESOME!! One of best camera from the Nokia N-Series. 2nd to the N93 which is available right now.

If your looking for the best Nokia camera I suggest you wait for the N95 with a Carl Zeiss lens and a 5MP camera!

get a htc... tri band UMTS and Quad band GSM.... or wait for nokia ... it took nokia so long just to get a quad band out... how long willl the wait be for triband UMTS?

thanks for the info. as for the cameras, how about at night time, or in dim light. the camera on my friends n80 is actually good, its just that in dim light/ night time it has noise.

If you really want to take pictures in the dark/at night then a real camera would be the best (obviously) other then that Sony Ericsson's K800/K790 takes pretty good pictures in the dark as well (because of its xenon flash)
