N Series: N95 v N75

US 3G is nice, as I mentioned in my review, linked in my sig. However, for me, I was hoping that it was good enough to get me past my dislike of flips, and it didn't. I was also hoping it would help me look past the lackluster 2MP cam on the N75 (as compared to my precious N73's 3.2MP killer) and it didn't.

I'm holding out for a better-spec'd device with US 3G. If you're coming from say, a 6682 or something similar, then yeah, the N75 would be clutch. But stepping down in nearly everything other than data speeds, it wasn't worth the sacrifice, IMO.

As for N75 vs. N95, I personally am saying neither (having had a chance to have both, now). It's so early in the game for this year. And with the N73 being Ngage compatible , and the new S60 FP1 browser coming available in a download in a month or so, I'd rather wait.

Plus, April 9th is basically D-day for if there will be any more US 3G devices in the States from Nokia (courtesy of Qualcomm). I personally am sitting back till about September, and enjoying my N73 along the way.

WiFi is not free. Tmo requires insane fees for poor coverage. Not to mention horrible customer service. Tmo Hotspot is NOT Tmo Mobile in terms of service and billing. IMO free WiFi hotspots are far and few in between. Since the N75 and N95 have traditional keypads they get MediaNET. Which is pretty cheap for unlimited.

I've seen a couple pre-orders for US versions of the N95 (www.mobileplanet.com). So I'm going to stick with the N75 until I see a N95 or other similar super N series is release on US 3G.

Yes, Qualcomm and Nokia's current licensing agreement ends on April 9th, and they're at a stalemate in the negotations. Nokia thinks that Qualcomm is charging unfair prices to them, and that some of their patents or copywrights aren't valid. It's a court battle, atm.

If you really want to get a mind job regarding all this, read through the Olly and the Guru series (you can use the archives and categories button up top) we basically wonder if nokia doesn't ahve any US 3G phones cause they're going ot skip it altogheter. i know just having the conversation blew my mind.
