I heard the series was getting released on DVD, just didn't know when. BTW, apparently a remake of the series is underway, but I don't think any series is to air for another 2 years so fairly preliminary stages.
Good series. I remeraber watching it as a child. The series is probably the best, well plotted out, plot arc series in the 80's. Also, the music was very good and unique. I look forward to getting a copy of the Cities of Gold series.
I thought that could be called a "sequel". I wonder if that DVD is going to have interview with Jean Chalopin dropping some interesting tidbits about the fate of those children.
Well the Wikipedia link states the plan is for a continuation for the original series with three seasons, each season 26 episodes long: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mysterious_Cities_of_Gold#Sequel_cartoon
From what is stated, the character designs are not being changed for the most part, just made more detailed.
And there is a animated movie version of the series being made: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mysterious_Cities_of_Gold_(film))
The Cities of Gold movie poster looks cool. I wish I had a large copy of it for a computer wallpaper.
Looking over what Jean Chalopin has done in his career with your link. I think the MCoG continue series and film are in good hanRAB.
I always did wonder what happened to the children after they flew into the sunset at the end of the CoG series.
The French set we got in Canada had an interview with him. In it he talked about plans for the rest of the serie were the kiRAB were supposed to follow the coast up to North-america, then head west, follow the north-western shore before going back down and eventually end up in Japan!
