You can change the ringer for each of your favorites. You just have to do it through the actual icon. Works like a champ.


Hey N8 wondering if I could get that .alx and .cod file from ya? Thanks in advance.
 
again, don't feel bad. if they did catch on to you using a non-fave5 phone, you could get hit with back charges. is it really worth the risk?
 
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ok, first off, the pearl has issues with the myfaves software but, that doesn't mean that you can't use the myfaves you go to tmobile.com and set it up, in other words you do not have to have a myfaves phone for it to work. They will not go back and charge you if they find out you aren't using a myfaves phone. How do I know this, my husband works for tmo.
 
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ok my myfaves is having problems too and this has been going on for a bit I just didn't feel like being on hold forever. My icons keep changing around like my sisters pic would be on my bfs number.and forget the ringtones they DON'T work properly. Same issue my bfs ringtone would ring when my mothers calling or whatever. I'm getting really really annoyed. Any help? My pins 23E43C13 thanks guys!
 
Try going into the Profile menu under advanced, and uncheck the box that tells you to use specific ringers for your myFaves people (it'll probably list their names). Then, set the custom ringtones in their address book profile for each user. Hopefully that helps.
 
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i tried that and everything else already.. Still doesn't work. Sometimes it rings the right ringtone sometimes it just rings the default one that i use. I don't know what else to do? I can't wait to get the 88xx for tmo I'm kinda bored with pearl already and I think I scratched the screen. Does that look like a water mark that doesn't go away by any chance? Its driving me insane. I think I have a minor case of ocd. Sorry and thanks for the help. Appreciate ya!
 
Hmmm, I don't think a scratch would look like a watermark... When I get weird smudges/marks, I would lick my finger and try to rub it off... If it's not coming off then I dunno what to tell you. The 8800's look nice, but I like how the pearl is so compact... a perfect phone for me.
 
Yeah - BB software and the MyFaves software doesn't play nice all the time - two quick fixes-----
For the ringer issue:
1. Go into Profiles>Advanced> Highlight the exceptions in for your MyFaves contacts.
2. Click Menu>Delete (Make sure that ALL exceptions are deleted - If you set up the
custom tone in both your address book and MyFaves there will be two entries.
3. Go into your address book and delete the contact out of your address book that
you are having the issue with. (Don't worry, your MyFaves contact won't delete -
that's stored on the server)
4. Re-add the person to your address book - DO NOT set up a custom tune.
5. Go into your MyFaves, change the ringtone to another ringtone, then back to what
you want it.
6. Test!

For the most part the steps above work...Or at least usually do....

For the Icon issues:
1. Back up handheld
2. Wipe Handheld (Options>Security Options>General Settings>Menu>Wipe Handheld)
3. Restore Handheld (You will need to set up your icons again)

This isn't a permenant fix, but it is a relatively quick one until the software update comes out.
 
man i dont really feel like wiping and restoring my bb. im not very bb savvy i actually didnt update my os when i had to. my sister's bf did it for me and he doesnt even have a bb but he understand how all that stuff works. right now my bf's icon is a blue circle. wtf. exactly. i give up, as long as it still counts as the stupid myfaves and not over charge me then ill just get over it. maybe ill change my plan.. hmm. but right now myfaves is the best for me. thank you for ALL the help.

ps ill try the backup and wiping business when i have all day to figure it out. hehe.
