my yorkie won't stop whining in his crate?!?

my yorkie is now 1 year old and 3 months, i've had him since he was 2 months old. he has always been able to sleep in his crate without whining. For the last month, he's been whining like crazy and shivering everytime i put him in his crate. he'll still go in there willingly but once i close the door he starts shaking and whining and whining. he will eventually stop after about 15 -30 minutes but it is still painful to watch! i don't know whats the matter! he does sleep through the night once he is settled in.
 
Your dog probably got attached to you a lot he wants to be with you all the time! He doesn't need to sleep in the crate, right? Buy him a cheap dog bed just to try and make him sleep there. Try putting him in the crate just to see but not for the whole night.
