Pull the spark plug and make sure it is not fouled. Best to just replace it. Next check to see if there is spark. Pull the plug out (like when you are putting the new one in) and lay it on the side of the engine. Watch the plug as you work the kicker. There should be spark. After that, assuming there is spark, I would check the air intake, since you have already replaced the carb. Make sure the reed cage (4 flaps) allow the air/gas in and expel the spent fuel. Two stroke engines do not have valves. It's not uncommon to have one stick or break. Also Make sure there is fresh gas in there. 6 Mos old gas could have been the kiss of death to begin with...
