my yamaha ew50 cuts off when stationary at lights, why?

It runs brilliant but whenever i stop at lights i have to continually rev the bike ir the engine cuts off which means i have to stop road side and start it up again, this is a major problem and i am scared it is a disater waiting to happen.
Any suggestions of how i can easily repair or anywhere in manchester i can take it too to get a look at?
