My xbox 360 wireless adapter won't connect to my linksys WRT54G router?

Well I have a linksys wireless router WRT54G version 2 and my xbox 360 wireless adapter will not connect to the router.It is the official microsoft adapter.My router is upstairs by the home computer and my 360 is downstairs.When i bring my labtop downstairs it connects just fine but my 360 won't.I'm aware that I could connect my 360 with an ethernet cable to the labtop and bridge the connections but i would rather not.Can anyone help me out?Thanks in advance.
 
You must try to hook up the connection via xbox live on the console itself. After you test for connection, the adapter should be able to find the router. If not, try calling Microsoft or trying the non-official adapters. Some of them may even work better. =)
 
ok the you can either go to xbox support for help and answers,make sure you went to system in the xbox dashboard and choose your router(go to system settings find network), buy a new router,or see if you adaptor is broken. sorry to hear that, mine works just fine,it was really easy to find my router too.
