My xbox 360 headset is not working!help!?

when i was playing odst with my friends all of a sudden my headset started to not work. then i tryed sending a voice message it said no audio detected make sure that your headset is unmuted and connected.Then i did what they told me to do and it still not worked.Then i started a party for myself it showed that i have a mic sign and i tried to talk and it still does not work.My batterys were fine and stuff.and when i did matchmaking other people had mics and my mic was connected then when the people on matchmaking were talking and my headset was connected i couldnt hear them and when i disconnected my mic i could hear them talk please give me a response.I will choose best answer and ill give you the maxed stars!
 
its probably the server i had the same problem with my friend.like 2 of my friends were in a room chat tin it up ,then i got in the room i could hear one of them and talk with them,but the other i couldn't hear jack.
so we where communicating though my friend.then we decided to go to another game and then like magic we could heareach otherr again.

long story short... just try resetting your router =]
