Well, we've all been there, seen that and have our own preferences for PDA's, Cell Phones and Cameras.
I've decided to state my preferences and see what company comes closest to the the "ideal" setup.
Let me preface this by saying the "all in one" may not be such a good idea in the future, since many companies, security conscious environments, airlines etc. prohibit the use of cameras, cellulars, etc.
So - I'd like the following:
A T|3 without the slider - same size as existing with the lower edge containing the buttons used today. Latest Palm operating system, bluetooth, wifi and infrared. All three could be "disabled" with a secure password which could be entered by security personnel at a "secure site" and then re-entered (or recorded for your pick-up) when you leave the site.
A cell phone with the "basic" functions, voice dialing (would be nice to be able to spell a name versus record the full name) and "bluetooth" enabled to allow connection with the PDA and a bluetooth headset. The phone should be as small as possible (the Ericsson T66 was a great size) without all the bells and whistles we're seeing today.
A reasonable sized "bluetooth" camera for the occasional picture, which could connect with either the PDA or the Cell Phone for storage. Credit card sized, it could fit in your wallet.
Finally, a bluetooth headset (similar to the Jabra BT-200) which works flawlessly with both the PDA and Phone. Its use with the PDA would be to listen to music / audible books, ect..., while its use with the phone would be a simple hands free system.
With the PDA in your hand, the phone in your pocket and the headset on your ear - your set. Without the PDA, you still would have the basic information in the phone, voice control would mean not having to take the phone out of your pocket, and with a little memory you could still use the camera.
And so, I'm through with "ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS"
