my wiimote doesn't stay synced

every time i quit a game and return to the menu, the wiimote turns off and i have to sync it again. am i doing something wrong? anyone else have this problem?

EDIT: so, i called nintendo and did some troubleshooting with them.
he's never heard of my problem before and he shipped out a wiimote to me.

yup, my friend had his wiimote and it was staying on.
but mine, which was player one, kept turning off.
switched out the batteries, switched my friend's wiimote to player one and everything was working fine.
 
I only lose it when I set the controller down for awhile, but then I just point it at the tv and click a button it comes right back up.

I remember I had a couple daed pixels on the DS release, and I called Nintendo. They sent me out a new DS that same day and got it two days later.
