My Wii is giving a weird error message that the troubleshooting manual can't explain.?

I turn it on, put in a new disc, and wait for it to load. After 30 or so seconds I get an error that says "And error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting."

I've tried looking but I've had no luck. Help would be much appreciated.
 
Is it only on one disc? maybe its scratched? dirty.

if all your disc do this, maybe a lens cleaner, the kind you use in cd/dvd players. NO LIQUID, just the brush kind of disc

can you play the downloaded games ok?
