My Wii is acting weird... is this like the xbox360 ring of death?

When I finish playing I'll turn the Wii off normally and leave the room and when I come back there is a blue pulsing light where you put in the disk as if it were on. But the Wii is still off. It freaks me out because I think it might be broken. Is this normal? If it's always done this I don't know why I haven't noticed it earlier I've owned it more then a year and I only recently noticed this. I worry because It's taken a few tumbles (from dogs knocking it down while we were playing.)
The wii still plays normally but I worry that one day it will just stop working and I want to save it if I can.
 
The blue disc light usually means you have a new message on your wii. To stop the light, turn it on and click on the message icon on the wii menu in the lower right. There you can see any unread messages from nintendo, games like mario kart, etc.
