I would take it back to where you got it and make lots of pouty faces at the dudes behind the counter and you'll prolly leave with a new wii and a free game to boot.

What are the chances that the power cord was all that broke? My wii will not even have power and show the red light, so what are the chances that all that broke was the power cord and not my wii. Is that what that large rectangle in the middle of the power cord is meant for? Or is my wii most likely broken.
Is there any way to fix it if it is my wii that broke?
