My website wants to switch from html to php...?

I've already done everything to switch to php but for some reason it's not working. I think the problem is that when I upload my files to filezilla (my ftp provider) it says all my php documents are ".php.text"
-Example "index.php" would be "index.php.txt"
Can anyone help me with this problem? It would be GREATLY appreciated.
