Earlier today, when I walked outside, I heard the sound of rushing water coming from my water pump. One of the two tubes that run from the well to the water pump was coming loose and gushing water. It was because the tubing was seemingly too short to completely fit over the coupling. I decided to replace the tubing with one of the proper length. This was no problem and I was able to fix the leak. I then turned on the water pump and checked the faucet. No water came out. This was, of course, because I forgot to prime the water pump. So I remove the tubing from the top of the water pump which runs back to the pressure tank, and subsequently drained the entire pressure tank of water. I primed the pump, attached everything back together and had running water again. The problem now is that the pump is short cycling. When I have the water running, the pump cycles on and off about every 10 seconds and it also surges water at a higher rate when the pump is on. I've tried to fix it by draining the tank and starting over but it still does the same thing. It cycles on and off even when it first starts pressurizing the tank. The water pump has been showing 50 psi throughout the entire process and I haven't seen it move. Do I need to relieve pressure from the water pump? Do I need to drain the water in the house? How do I just get it back to the way it was? I'm pretty sure the tank is a precharged bladder type and the pump is a fairly new electric deep well model. Someone please help! Thanks!!!
