My Tmobile Backing and restorning data

I was chatting with some friends of mine about SK3 and BB.

One of my friends wrote:

myT-mobile allows you to synch your SK3. Your Calendar, Notes, Contactsare kept on this network. When Mike's SK2 broke, he thought he lostall his info. When he purchased a SK3, everything was restored to the device. I am wondering if BB does this. I don't want to be dependenton my PC. This is what I am liking about the sidekick. If BB offers this, than I am willing to trade the size difference.

Basically- does BB have or offer remote back up location?

Thanks in advance (you know I had to come to the pros to get an answer)

Of course BB offers a remote backup service, its called BES on a windows server!

Thats what I use, Windows 2000 Server, and I just let it sync with Outlook on the server. Maybe not the same as what your are saying, but it does the job.

Sprint has a wireless backup, brand new, and we can look for that on furture BB's. Crossing my fingers at least.

I'm with Nate on thay one. I have way too much info on this thing to be uploading to the internet. As for what you are saying, no, bb cannot do that on tmo's website, at least not that I know of, maybe Andrew does.

Not exactly. A BES-connected Blackberry is effectively backed up the same way as cp6169 says. In other words, I can grab another Blackberry, insert my SIM and have everything pushed out to the new Blackberry automatically.

That said, most individual consumers with Blackberries are BIS-only. However, if you're syncing with Outlook all your PIM information is effectively backed up when you sync to Outlook. As for everything else, you can configure Desktop Manager to perform a backup of your device every time you sync.

The Sidekick actually stores everything on TMO/Danger servers. It's not really "backed up" but I see why you think it is (effectively the same, I guess).

Thanks for the fast responses, forgot to say that this was for NON-ENTERPRISE use. Hopefully TMO will offer this soon. I just like options, but I prefer backing up to my personal PC

I used to have a sidekick (by the way, worst phone ever). They are on a completely different network than the rest of tmobile. If you break you phone, and you get a new sidekick, it will automatically load all your information back onto your phone. It saves everything, and i mean everything (pictures, notes, ringtones, contacts, calendar) on their network. This is how Paris Hilton's sidekick got hacked. Everything is saved on the network so anyone could access stuff from the web if you have te user name and password. I do have to say that it was a nice feature considering the sidekick broke every few weeks and had to be replaced. It was nice to have all my stuff loaded back onto the phone automatically so i never lost anything, but yeah it's scary that tmo could see everything you did then.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i got all my stuff backed up in my personal computer. Just like what most of u guys said...why would I want all my data on my carrier's sysyem.

peguero,

Backup using your PC, then save off your backups to disk or other portable storage. I use two USB different USB drives. No worries about PC Crashes or someone hacking the Webserver.

Hope this Helps
