My three month old...sleeping/eating patterns?

Hey all,
My little guy is 3 months old and we have a routine which for me is awesome, I just want to know if it's good for him. I put him down for the night at 8.00pm, so he's usually fast asleep by 8.15pm. He wakes at 5am for a feed, then goes back to sleep until 7.30. During the day he's alert and happy, has about 3 naps for an hour or so. He feeds every 3-4 hours during the day. He goes through about 7 or so nappies a day. My health care nurse said he's doing well weight wise, and to try him on solids in a months time...like pureed veggies. Is this too soon? All the books I've read say wait until he's about 6 months old. I know I can try a bit of rice cereal when he's four months. I'm just really looking for tips about when to start solids as well. I'm a first time mum and I'm always unsure as to whether I'm doing the right thing by him!

wow..you have the perfect baby. My 5 month old goes to sleep at like 9 and is up again by 1 am and then again by 4 and 6. I have started rice cereal with him, just start out with a little and wait until he has figured out how to eat more then he spits out before you go to the veggies. making your own is a great idea and I would mix it with the rice cereal to start so the transition isn't too weird for him. Also remember to do one veggie at a time for 4 days or so to see if he as any allergies before starting a new one.
You are doing a great job. Have fun.

Sounds like your routine is wonderful for him. If he's doing well, there's really no need to rush the solids. The latest recommendation is to wait until 6 months before introducing any solids, although all babies are different and some are ready to start sooner than that (if he seems particularly interested in solid foods or it seems like milk alone is not enough to keep him satisfied then you might go ahead and introduce them a little early).
