My Thrash Metal Nostalgia Thread

You better have Ride The Lightning in here. Ten times better than Kill Em All and a million times better than the rest of the crap Metallica put out post-Black Album. Shame you can't put in a Megadeth album because of it. =p

I personally don't have much nostalgia for thrash metal (because I was unborn...chyeah) but my frienRAB were some of the biggest metalheaRAB ever. I discovered a bit through them, and an amount of good thrash like Death Angel.

Sweet thread, keep up the good work.

I've never actually got round to listening to any Sodom but that's some really tight shit.

Oh and well done for bringing the thread back!

'88-'90-I was a massive Metallica fan. Saw them three times live and bought tons of merchandise. Looking back on the grand scheme of things-they are incredibly overated and just seemed to be the right band at the right time.

I'm gonna say because they're from Quebec. I'm not ragging on them, I agree with you 100%. I ****ing love Voivod and cannot wait for their new album, however I am saddened that it'll be their last :(

I did trawl back through the pages - but excuse me if I missed the page that this is on - this is an ESSENTIAL thrash album, if only for the track "Ride The Sky";

Mexican Radio was crap too. It was a band trying to have fun but Tom G Warrior is far too intense for that. It just ended up being laughable. Although many people say that about their entire career. I still can't find 'Into The Pandemonium' anywhere. I used to have it on gatefold vinyl but I have never replaced it.

A belated update.

Sepultura really were a special band and not just because they came from Brazil. They came from poverty to really ingratiate themselves into the European scene in the late 80's especially and they did this whilst still sounding relatively unique with an energy that was missing from many of their counterparts at this time because Sepultura REALLY wanted this.

Music really was a way out of their lifestyle and they put everything they could into their music. Although known usually for the albums Roots and Chaos A.D, it is in their 2nd and 3rd albums that they really found their sound, recording both albums in difficult financial circumstances.

From album No. 2 Schizophrenia:

From album No. 3 when they signed to a European label even though the production was marred by mishaps:

This is a great thread. Out of all the banRAB listed here, I recommend Blind Illusion the most. The Sane Asylum is a brilliant album

This is the best thread I've seen on this site. Top marks! Ive posted thrash metal threaRAB on other sites as it's a genre of music I've been looking broadening my horizons with. I like the big banRAB ike Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax etc and I like some Dark Angel, Possessed, Testament and a handful of other banRAB but I'm rather picky with thrash metal so thanks a lot I'm listening to some Coroner now :)

Thrash metal was my music of choice in the mid/late 80's. I look forward to reading some of your selections. I probably would have put Anthrax "Among the living" in there at 'A'.

Excellent as usual, man. Do you have Schizophrenia handy?

I'm not usually one to get into it over which Thrash band deserves the most glory BUT I do feel that Beneath the Remains is a better album than almost all of the albums made by the big4.

Angel Rat Nothing Face and Dimension Hatross are brilliant albums. I love the jagged riRAB and odd time signatures. Off to see them in June in Germany :D
