My take on the stupidity of the Military....

Over-staffed my ass. Our military is the very reason other countries haven't jumped at the chance to rip us apart yet. If we reduce the amount of soldiers in the military, the sheer lack of manpower would be reason enough for enemies to try to attack, on our homeland. And they won't be random terrorists, they'll be countries that hate the US. Countries that we've invaded in the past, who are looking for a chance to get back at us. Countries who hate the US because of how we prance about on the world stage bossing everyone around, interfering in other countries' affairs. Right now, we really need all the manpower we can get. We're already fighting a war on two fronts, and that's really dangerous; we shouldn't even be doing that, because it stretches our military thin.

:/

From a military wife: God Speed to you. I know it sucks right now and nothing I can say will make it any easier for you. My husband just got back from Iraq not more then a month ago. 19 months. He made it back with 8 of my friends and we lost some mighty fine fighty men. :(

I have now just sent another 3 of my friends back over there and a cusain and keep wondering when my husband has to go back over there. (but enough of my sob story)

I am letting you know that you are added in my prays. That I am greatful for what you are doing and the sacrfice of both you and your family. I know it is hard for you over there and I really don't have any words to offer you. But I fully offer you the only thing I can give you; my support to either you or your family. Email me at: [email protected], [email protected]

You need anything or your family needs anything I will do my best to figure out how to help. I don't know what else to do for ya man. Just do what you have to, Keep your ass down and your head up. Soon, I promise... soon, this will all be over...

I know you can't help but worry about your family back home. However, I know that I didn't want Jesse or any of my soldiers worrying about anything but coming home to me and I am sure it is the same with your family. Life has a way of working itself off and love has away of being reached half way around the world. Whatever your family is dealing with I am sure they understand the situations, as best as any of us can. So just worry about coming home...

I read your last part. Yeah some dumb stuff like that happened with my husband as well though I won't go into details. Jesse was part of an engineer unit over there. His job was to find the IED's and disarm them. :( He was so upset his last weeks in Iraq, they had him pulling tower guard instead of doing what they were trained for. I guess the military does some strange things.

I wish I could offer ya better words. I am truly sorry.... I am sorry you have to be over there. I am sorry for the things you have to see. I am sorry for the pain you have to deal with and most of all I am sorry I don't know what to say to help make any of it better. Just understand this. I am proud of you. I don't have to know you to say this. Your a better man then most and a hell of a lot braver.. No matter what anyone says, they can not take away what you have earned. You are truly a hero for the sacrfices that you and your family have made. I am Proud of you all over there... pray for you all a safe return....

God Bless ya for all that you do. THANK YOU so VERY MUCH!!!

With All my support, prays and respect to you and your family.

Sincerly,

Angel Marie Shelafoe

Kitana, i agree with you on the fact that the military is worth quite a bit, and I agree that we should all e proud of the men and women fighting a war most of us are completely uninterested in. Skitch, learn to listen. Its not that youre not right, its not that your wrong, its the fact that youre not listening to anything thats been said. PERSONALLY, I respect the military but have no wish to be a part of it. They protect our country, a thing which should be much more respected than it is, and our country does almost nothing to protect them, sending them off to fight a war that no one remembers why it started, and then denying them the rights they were promised as a soldier. They have to put up with not being able to see their family and friends for long periods of time, and then when they do, they may not be recognized or they may have to give horrible news to their family that someone they know and care about died or something. Im only 14, so I have no personal knowledge of daily military life, but as far as I know, the higher up you are, the more respected you are, and the more liberties you have. I know that war sucks really bad, and that it is filled with injustice and inequality. That much at least is common knowledge. I dont personally agree with any of you, but I do think you should at least try and get along. The thread is "My take on the stupidity of the Military". Not yours, his. This isnt the place to argue over something as stupid as whos right or wrong. Theres got to be someplace for that on this site. Take it there and do us all a favor.

there have plenty of times when I have looked at some of the soldiers around me and thought to myself "fuck me... we are supposed to be the best and the brightest.... " and I just have to be glad that I am not a soldier in some other nations military... we have lots of dumbasses... but we also have lots of very bright people that chose to serve thier country instead of striving for a higher paying career or a career where they would attain a higher social status.... but in my opinion, the high level of pride and the camaraderie are second to none...

Things are going slightly better here now, but it still sucks LOL. I see both sides of the fence on this issue....but that doesnt make a lot of what the Military does "Right". Oh well. I suppose that quite a few people in the Military can share a similar rant about how pissed they are about certian things.

Id also like to thank evryone for the kind words, they really do mean a lot over here. Every little bit helps over here. Other than that, it seems like activity is down over here, but roadside bombs are on the upswing again. WE had a nasty sandstorm the other day, it was so bad it actually blacked out our satilite connections to the interweb for a while. I've been looking around the site a bit and I hope to start posting here more!

Thnks again!

Props to those in the military and many thanks for doing what you were told. I know it's a shitty system, and you guys didn't always get the respect you deserve/d. My dad was in the Air Force, and while it was a different kind of shit, he did have to put up with it. To the guy who started this thread, I'm sorry you have to deal with stupidity in the military since Lord knows there's enough of it in civilian life, but thank you for continuing to fight for our country in a war that you had no say in. Rep for you
