Female, age 35: Health issues: fatigue, body pains, migraines, bowel issues, anxiety, depression, PMDD, high cholesteral and a fast heart rate.
I have suffered from Migraines most of my life. They are mainly menstrual. The rest of my issues have become more prominante in my 30s and after I had my son three years ago. I was convinced I had something seriously wrong with me: cancer, fibro, lyme disease, an autoimmune disease, - you name it. I thought I had it. I have had many, many tests. Blood tests, CT scans, ultrasounds, etc. Everything always came back normal. But I knew something was wrong. It is not normal to sleep as much as I do and hurt as much as I do. My regular doctor just wanted to put me on antidepressents. I am NOT depressed. I have been depressed, I know that that is like.

I decided I needed to start looking for a part time job because I would go to work and then go home and basically go to bed. I was completely unavailable to my son and husband. This led to lots of fights between me and the hubby. He was tired of carrying all the weight, but I literally could not give anymore! I just always felt sick or tired or had a migraine.

Until recently....I went to my OBGYN to discuss the migraines - AGAIN. This time was different. They checked my hormone levels and something called MTHFR. My hormones were fine, but I have two MTHFR gene mutations. Never heard of this and was not sure what it had to do with anything. But basically it meant my body does not absorb vitamin b/folic acid. They immediately put me on Metanx. The first month, I felt no different, but going into the 2nd month...changes started happening. I am a new person. My energy levels are way up, I am sleeping way less, my migraines are less severe and I am a much happier person in general.

Apprently one mutation has to do with mental issues such as depression and the other one has to do with IBS, chronic fatigue, increased heart disease, and migraines. Since I have a mutation of both, I have symptoms from both!

This MTHFR screening is pretty new and not many doctors even know about it. But I am A BELIEVER! It is like a cloud has been lifted from me and I feel 20 again.

A few years ago I was told that I needed to take lots of vitamin B and this would help me. So I went out and spent LOTS of money on vitamin Bs, but it did nothing for me. Now I know why. My body does not activate it. So Metanx does this for me. They said I could have drank gallons vitamin B, and it would have just went right thru me.

I am not saying this is the answer to all my problems, but so far it has really changed my life. Hopefully as time goes on, I will even feel better!
