My son's mystery illness!

My son has been ill for nearly two years and has got progressively worse over that time but the doctors we have consulted simply don
 
Hi,
Are the patches more yellow or light brown, check out Addisons Disease, My son got the disease when he was 15 years old, it took some time until the doctors figured out what it was-it's not real common at that age.

Hello Kay - many thanks for getting in touch.

The patches are a sort of "in between" yellow - not as bright yellow as custard but not really brown either! As we speak, the main patch is on his stomach running up from the navel towards the chest for about 3-4" but it's started to fade a bit.

He went to a highly rated endocrinologist in Oxford earlier this year and she said he had all the symptoms of Addison's but she couldn't officially diagnose it as his cortisol levels following a blood test didn't fit into the pattern for Addison's. Instead, he was signed off and referred on to a gastro-enterologist in the same hospital who he is seeing on September 8th.
