This morning outside my sons school, he was being dropped off from his ride. They were stopped in a lane leading to a stop sign in the second lane, the next lane being a turn lane. His ride instructed them to get out of the car since they were stopped, he got out, walked around the back of the car, crossed the middle divider, and crossed the opposite side of traffic (no cars were coming).
A police officer was sitting up some stairs and issued about 15 tickets to a bunch of kids that did the exact same thing from other cars. He was issued a ticket for VC 21955 "jaywalking".
My question is, did he actually jaywalk?
i think he should have been in violation of VC 21956. No pedestrian shall walk upon any roadway outside of a business or residence district otherwise than close to his left-hand edge of the roadway.
We were discussing fighting the ticket by mail. Should i fight it, or will fighting it add more cost if we loose.
TR-205 Request for Trial by Written Declaration. You can do a trial by mail for a minor offense such as this.
Good points on the lesson aspect, i was in a save money train of thought.
I told the moment he told me, hes paying the ticket and lucky for him its Christmas so he will be able to afford it.
