My Sims 3 Game Keeps Crashing?

Every time i play the game it crashes after 5 - 10 minutes.. I have all the requirements listed

Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
1.5 GB RAM
At least 6.5 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content
128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0

I have

windows vista service pack 1
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5300 @ 1.73GHz (2CPU)
2gb Ram
54gb hard drive space
254mb video card with pixel shader 2.0

any ideas how i can fix it?
the screen just goes black and it says "not responding" and sometimes i can still hear the audio
