My road bike's derailer punctured the frame, help!?

Hi, I ride a road bicycle and I recently let my inexperienced brother ride it. He got the gears mixed up on the STI shifters and switched into a higher gear going up hill causing the bike's derailer to puncture the frame of my bike. It punctured it to the extent where I could even get the rear tire to budge. I have taken it to a repair service but I don't know if this is fixable. Someone told me there is no way this can be fixed. I just need to know if I'm going to ultimately have to buy a new bike...

what is 'puncturing' a frame?
does it have a hole?

It sounds like you need a new frame, not a whole bike. Have your brother pay for it!!!
