My recommendations on what cables to get if you flash a lot

Think of this as a guide to getting started with a set of cables to flash most phone we come across today.

i will start off with what i have/still need:

-I have the data cable for The EnV and like phones,
-Another for the VX8300 and like phones,
-One for the VX6100 and other phones (similar to the VX8300, but slightly different and some phones need this cable for hacking).

-Also a USB to mini USB (for PDA phones, Moto's and more)
-I still need to get USB to Micro USB data cable (same as above)

-Nextel (Moto) data cable (wide connector, used on e815/e816, some others)

-An Audiovox CDM-8900 data cable (works on most Audiovox's and UTstarcom's).

-A Sanyo 8100 data cable (works on almost all sanyo's)

-A Samsung A950,
-One for the U740,
-One for the M300 or Fin.

-The almighty Treo serial cable for 650-755.

-I have 2 Kyocera data cables, but i never had luck with their drivers so I don't even use them. If anyone can help me out with this i would love to start hacking some Kyocera's.


That's what's it is up to date so far. Maybe deepending on you you would get a Nokia data cable and some others, but this bundle does fine for me.

As far as where to get it? Most of these sell for lesss than $7 a piece shipped on ebay. And if you can buy a bunch from one person, corabined shipping will help on price too.

I buy on ebay from itrimming, eforcity, everydaysource, and accstation.

My opinion is that itrimming and accstation are the best on price/ fast shipping.

Great post. That's exactly where i got my first cables from off ebay. They all work fine except for one that I bought for the katana. That one ended up doing nothing but charging the phones through the USB port, so I had to buy another one :(

But like I sad, great post. Will most likely help a lot of folks out.

With these cables you can do basically every CDMA phone out today.

OEM vs CHEAP
OEM cables are built to last, their made correctly, soldered with precision soldering points on top of that they have heat shrink around the communications, pwr and gnd connections. These cables will not fry phones or you're computer. All around their good for programming hundreRAB of phone's without breaking apart.


NONE OEM ( OR CHEAP as I like to call them)
CHEAP cables are just that, their cheaply made either hand soldered or not very well soldered to the pins, 9 times out of 10 the connection points such as the gnd, communications and pwr do not have heat shrink around them and are exposed. I personally have had a case where I had pluged the cable in the phone and into the computer and my computer would pop up saying their was a power failure in one of my usb hubs. I decided to open the cable and saw that the pwr cable was not soldered correctly and frays of it were touching the gnd of the wire causing my computer's usb to shorten out. I have seen cases of people having LOST all usb communications because of this. I strongly recommend against these cables for long term uses. Dont be cheap just pay the extra dollar or two and save yourself the hassle.
 
if you want a quick startup kit for a relatively low cost, you can head over to frys and pick up media pilot...NOT data pilot, that is the more expensive software suite...you need to buy the media pilot universal kit for $30-$40...

the kit includes:
-samsung (B) cable with open slot on bottom to do most samsungs...
-LG (C) for the chocolate and enV
-LG (D) for the lower end models with open slot so it fits more phones
-sanyo (A) that fits almost all sanyos
-motorola (B) usb to mini usb
-motorola (A) old school w/two pin strips
-sony ericsson (A) for most sonys
-iPod cable
-usb bluetooth adapter

These cables are susteen brand and are oem quality!!!

there is another kit that comes with LG (B) instead of LG (D)...get that if you have a chocolate cable but don't have the older one (pre-vx8100)...

this kit is the shizzzz!!!!!

also, all the cables are short 5" cables with an extension included...so when you have to be on the go, they really help keep things organized.
 
I use Cellebrite cable which a big company that specialy in phone book transfering. I don't have to go chase some body to make a cable for me when the new phone coming out. Cellebrite do all the work for me they lable their calbe in nuraber. If any of you stop by the verizon copperate store to ask them to transfer a phone book you know what i'm talking about. They have to make cable to support their system there always a cable for every phone available. cheers.
 
i recommend bluetooth. I have bluetooth integrated in my laptop and it works great.

I can do almost all new lgs, samsungs, kyoceras(not virgin mobile ones), Qs, and a lot more.

for the phones that do not support Bluetooth Serial Port, then i do use a usb for those.

it always comes in handy to have a bluetooth.
 
i just get the transformers cable that sees whatever phone you are trying to connect to and transforms the appropriate pinout...

this works best...

can't wait for someone to message and ask where they can get it.
