MY rear derailleur broke, how much would it cost at a bike shop to get it...

...replaced and installed? So basically, the derailleur literally broke in half. It's a pretty old Schwinn mtb.

It's a 6 speed derailleur
How much would it cost to get it replaced and have a bike shop do it for you?
Would I need a new chain? The original is still fine. If so, how much would that also cost?

I'm not particular looking for top notch quality.
Actually looking for the cheapest and would work pretty decent.
 
You might be lucky if you can even find one but when you do it probably wont cost more than $15 for the part and another $10 or right around in there to put it on....GOOD LUCK six speed anything has gone the way of the dinosaur.
 
A new derailleur can run $15 and they may charge $10-$15 to put it on. It will work better then what came with the bike.
 
it is a common item there cheap 10-15.00 you'll wanna replace cable also 1.00. labour with setup 25.00. chain could be fine. kmc chain should only be 10.00 doubt you'll need one.
