Hi
I just let me two rats out for their afternoon run around, they came up to me and sat on my lap for a bit eating some rice crispies (their favourite treat!) and were running around getting rid of all their energy. They were out for about an hour. Towards the end of the hour, my boyfriend rang me and we chatted for a bit. When i got off the phone i thought i better find my little guys and put them back in their cages (they are in separate cages because one is pregnant and due any day so i didnt want the male in the cage when she gave birth and i wasnt there because he can get her pregnant again - i dont want another accident! But the cages are right up against eachother and they come out to play together) Anyway, i found them both curled up asleep in amongst a pile of teddies. I picked them up and put them back in their cages one by one. But as soon as they got into their cages they ran straight into their hammocks, poked their heads out and just stared! My little boy Louie, was looking straight ahead, his nose twitching and his eyes were fixed on something. He wouldnt even take a treat from me. He let me stroke his face whereas normally he would be hesitant until he got a scratch behind the ear and then he would give in. And my little girl did the same thing. It was really strange. They were just kind of frozen, with their little noses sniffing at something. This has never happened before.
Has this happened to anyone else?
And does anyone know WHY they did this? I will go and check on them again in a minute.
They are only young and iv had them for about 2 months.
If anyone can help id really appreciate it, it really worried me, i hate the thought that they were scared of me or hate for me some reason.
