I use pine shavings and saw dust to go in the litter tray, eccept they do not stand on it and they have no way of getting in contsact with it because it is a cage with bars and a tray etc..
I just did some research and i found out pine is bad, and may be causing the red stuff so tomorrow ill go and get aspen bedding, however in the mean time, what do i do to make sure he is okay tonight and help him get back on the road of healthyness? (my other rat who is in the same cage is fine and isnt showing any signs of being ill) please help me...

Well the best thing would probably be to put them both in a cage with nothing (no type of bedding) just for the night that way you don't separate them and they dont loose the track of each others scents but thats pretty much all you can do...but dont separate them!

He needs to see a vet, even if you change the bedding he might not get better, you should change it anyway. If he has something serious and dies the other raat could get it and die too, I would call a vet and ask them he could be dying.
