i'm 26 - i watched the transformers series as a kid, loved it.
now i just saw the movie. i went into it knowing it would be a GM ad, knowing that characters would be missing, and that it was going to be "too long"
the first three-quarters of the movie made me embarrassed to be a fan. it was clearly a kids movie:
the computer hacking was absurd (high school "experts in signal analysis"? "hack this monitor to put out morse code?" "the signal contains an alien map?")
the transformers were big kids jumping around to avoid the *parents* and play with a puppy
...the first 3/4 of the movie was your typical adults-don't-listen-to-kids-but-kids-are-smart formula movie.
the robot fight scenes at the end, however, delivered.
