My puppy whines sooo much?

I've had Patches for about 3 months. He's a 5 Month old Lab/Pitbull mix. He's awesome. We treat him like gold. We walk him everyday for over an hour. We have a big yard we play fetch with him in. We feed him good food. Take him to weekly training. We have him calm submissive 90% of the time. He just whines. We ignore it. Nothing. We startle him. Nothing. We touch him on the side firmly and say shhh. Nothing. I don't know what too do. I'm just at a loss. We don't crate him. He has the kitchen blocked off by a big baby gate. He has a nice bed. He's right nextt to us and whines. He walks great. He whines at home. Like crazy. What do I do? I feel like I'm trying everything right? But maybe not.
 
Hmmm Sounds like you are doing everything right.

He's obviously wanting more attention.

All you can do is continue to ignore him. No eye contact. No corrections. Walk away. Everytime. everyone.

When he's quiet immediately go to him and love him up.
