My puppy keeps on barking/whining when he doesn't see anyone around him!?

What's wrong with him and how can I stop the barking? Also, he sometimes bark at me when I just stand and stare at him. What should I do or shouldn't do?
Please help.

PS: He's a golden retriever and he's 9 weeks old.
 
9 weeks old isnt that old so he might just be a little insecure . . . how long have you had him? Also animals tend to be more psychic than humans so he could be picking up on spiritual activity - have you noticed anything like that going on in your house, or have you known anyone die? Some puppies are just more nervous than other, like people are, so just comfort him and reassure him. Also barking and whining is a dogs way of letting you know they want something, so ensure they have plenty of food and fresh water with a cosy bed. Is your house warm or fairly cold? Also if this continues take him to a vet for a check up cos he might have something wrong with his paw or something. Good luck :D
 
um, i think he just likes the sound of his own voice. you don't scare him or anything right? He's still a puppy. maybe he just really wants to play, or to get your attention. if you really can't take it any more, you can get a spray bottle and just mist his face and say "No" or "Enough". Enough is probably the better word so that he doesn't stop barking all together. you want him to alert you when people come to your house. Another thing you could try is a can with cions in it. Its really loud and it will be louder then his niose so hie'll stop.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN AUTOMATIC SPRAY COLLAR FOR HIM. HES TOOO YOUNG FOR THAT!!!
