My ps3 official bluetooth headset isnt working?

I had one before and it worked perfectly but my dog drolled over it and chewed on it and it stopped working so i went to walmart and got it exchanged for a new one and it didnt work why didnt it? Can someone help me i dont know if i should return it again. I also reconnected it and paired it with my ps3 since it was a new mic thanks looking for good answers
