My ps3 has the YLOD, I heared about JD electronics but do they save your memory...

...or does it get whiped? I am one of the few unlucky people to get the yellow light of death on my ps3. I heared about this place called JD electronics that can fix it for $75 + shipping, much cheaper than Sony, but do they send it back with the memory or does it get whiped?
changing the hard drive won't work
